Something About A Song

I work a day job and am surrounded with a lot of different personalities so I pick up a lot of things, though mostly from the more thought-filled people. Kevin is one of them. He's a nice guy who always seems to be able to handle difficult situations in a professional manner. Unlike myself, he is well groomed, well spoken and extremely polite - he is also a husband and father. One day a comment was made refering to my local noteriety as a children's performer. Something like, "Hey everybody look, there's the big star!" Kevin spoke up quickly and said "Oh well, we all shine like stars in a certain way. Isn't that right Duncan?" It was that very evening I went home, sat down and wrote Shine, believing every word of it to be true. Thank you Kevin!

Shine was recorded and released on the 1998 recording, The Love & Safety Club For Children.

This song is available as a demo to serious music publishers and recording artists.

Shine

We are little drops of rain
blown by the wind
we splash upon the ground
and then we get back up again
we are peas in a pod
little gifts from God
we all shine like stars
because that's what we are.

That's what we are
we are flowers in the woods
we are here among the trees
trying to find our sun
and when the night takes over
we gather round the moon
and we all shine like stars
because that's what we are.

We are leaves on a tree
we all start off as seeds
and then we all turn green
yellow, red and orange
we are clouds in the sky
we watch the world go by
and still we shine like stars
because that's what we are.

We are kisses we are smiles
and sometimes we are teardrops
sometimes we are dreamers
and sometimes we are dreams
we are promises and wishes
and as we look upon the sky
we all wish upon a star
because that's what we are.

We are little drops of rain
blown by the wind
we splash upon the ground
and get back up again
we are peas in a pod
little gifts from God
we all shine like stars
because that's what we are.
